Grade 8 and secondary school students select courses in February for the following school year.
Before you begin . .
- Do you know when course selection is due?
- Do you know your YRDSB student number?
- Have you reviewed graduation requirements and any program requirements (i.e. SHSM)?
- Have you chosen your compulsory, elective and alternative courses?
Before you submit . . .
- Have you chosen course pathways carefully (de-streamed, academic or locally developed)?
- Have you checked resources to assist you in your decision-making, including Guidance, Programs and course selection information for students?
- Have you entered a parent/guardian email address?
- Has a parent/guardian Accepted or Rejected the Course Selections through email?
Your course selection is very important as it will decide which courses are offered next year. If you fail to submit a list of courses on time, the courses you want may not be offered, or the courses you want may be full.

Course Selection Instructions
Getting Started
1. Click on the “Online Student Tools” on our website home, then select “My Pathway Planner.”
2. Login using your YRDSB credentials (select EDU for Domain, enter your school computer login and password.
Create a High School Plan
3. To complete course selection, you must create your first high school plan (if you have not already!).
- From the left navigation menu, click High School.
- You may need to: Select Denison Secondary School as the school you plan to attend next year.
- You may also need to: Select OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma).
- Click on Add Plan.
Course Selection
4. Select Courses for Next Year:
- In High School Planner, click on Courses (top tab) to explore all courses available at Denison Secondary School. You can also filter by grade/discipline or use the tool bar.
- Click Plan (top tab) and click on the “+” button to add a course.
5. Click Add Course when you find the course you want.
- You can delete a course by clicking on the course name and selecting Delete, from the top right corner of the window.
- The Graduation Indicator (found in “Plan”) will help you keep track of your progress towards graduation. Click View Progress for a list of specific graduation requirements.
6. Review Courses – When ready to submit your course selections, click the blue Review Course Selections button and give your course selection one final look over. NOTE: If available, you can use the “Add Comments” section to explain any issues to Denison Secondary School (i.e. taking the prerequisite in night school, or summer school).
7. Submit Courses – Once you have reviewed the Details page, click on Submit Course Selections. Please note that you will not be able to modify your course selections once submitted (unless your guidance counsellor re-allows submission)
8. Submit Approval Email (not necessary to print or hand it).
- Enter parent/guardian email.
- Parent/guardian approves or rejects the course selections.
Optionally, you can print/re-print the course selection for your records.
